It is an industrial machine that converts large, master "jumbo" rolls of kraft paper into narrower, smaller rolls required by end-users. The process involves:
Slitting: Cutting the wide web longitudinally into multiple strips of specific widths.
Rewinding: Winding these strips onto individual cores to form tight, uniform finished rolls.
Loading: A jumbo kraft roll (e.g., 60" wide, 40" diameter) is loaded onto the unwind stand with an overhead crane or forklift.
Threading: The web is threaded through the machine—over guide rollers, through the tension system, past the slitting unit, and taped onto the cores on the rewind shaft.
Setup: The slitting blades are positioned to the required widths (manually or via automated servo drives).
Running: The machine starts. The unwind brake provides back-tension, the slitter cuts the web, and the rewind system winds the strips under controlled pressure from the nip roller.
Unloading: Once the master roll is depleted or the new rolls reach the target diameter, the machine stops. The finished rolls (e.g., 10" wide, 20" diameter) are unloaded, weighed, and packaged.
The output of these machines is used across many industries:
Bag Making: For flat and satchel bags (grocery sacks, mailing envelopes).
Wrapping & Cushioning: For pallet wrapping, void-fill, and protecting fragile items.
Core & Tube Winding: Slit into narrow strips for spiral winding into paper tubes and cores.
Construction: Used as a breathable membrane or temporary protection on job sites.
Packing: As a lining or interleaving material in boxes.
