A full line is a combination of several machines in sequence. Here’s the typical workflow:
Function: Holds 1-2 large jumbo rolls of crepe tissue paper (often recycled or virgin pulp). An automatic splicer ensures continuous feeding by seamlessly joining a new roll when the old one runs out.
Alternative: Some lines start with a Tissue Paper Making Machine that converts pulp into base tissue paper, which is then directly fed into the converting line. This is a much larger and more capital-intensive setup.
Printing: Rotary flexographic printers apply colored patterns, borders, or brand logos.
Embossing: Passes the paper between engraved steel rollers to create patterns (like dots or flowers). This serves two purposes: Aesthetic appeal and Improved softness/bulk.
Ply Bonding: For 2-ply or 3-ply napkins, multiple layers of tissue are brought together. They are lightly glued at the edges or using a patterned glue application.
Folding: The most critical step. A high-precision folding cylinder or plow folder creates the signature "C-fold," "V-fold," "interfold," or "pop-up" configuration. For interfold, a mechanical or vacuum-assisted system interlinks each tissue with the next for easy one-handed dispensing.
A rotary cross-cutter cuts the continuous web into individual napkins of precise dimensions (e.g., 210mm x 210mm).
An electronic counter groups the exact number of tissues per pack (e.g., 50, 100, 200 sheets).
The counted stacks are neatly collated and transferred to the packaging section, often via a conveyor belt or robotic arm.
Primary Wrapping: The stack is wrapped in polypropylene (PP) plastic film or printed film. This is done by a high-speed horizontal flow wrapper.
Shrink Wrapping (Optional): Multiple individual packs are grouped (e.g., 6 or 12 packs) and wrapped in a shrink film bundle.
Cartoning (Optional): Bundles are then automatically inserted into cardboard cartons for shipping.
The entire line is synchronized by a central PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and inverter drives for smooth, adjustable speed
operation.
