The Production Process of A4 Paper from Jumbo Rolls to Reams
The A4 paper making process starts with jumbo rolls—large paper rolls with diameters up to 1.5 meters and widths of 2-3 meters. These rolls are first loaded onto a unwinding unit of the A4 paper machine, where tension control systems ensure steady, smooth unrolling to avoid paper breaks.
Next comes the cutting stage. The continuous paper web passes through a precision slitting machine, which first trims it into narrower strips matching the length of A4 paper (297mm). A secondary cross-cutting system then slices these strips into individual A4 sheets (210mm × 297mm), using high-speed blades that maintain accuracy within ±0.1mm to meet international standards.
After cutting, a quality inspection module checks for defects like smudges, tears, or size inconsistencies, rejecting faulty sheets automatically. The qualified sheets then move to the packing section. They are stacked into reams (500 sheets per ream) by a counting machine, wrapped in moisture-proof plastic film to preserve quality, and labeled with product details (e.g., weight, brightness). Finally, the reams are packed into cartons for storage and shipping, completing the transformation from jumbo rolls to ready-to-use A4 paper reams.
