The entire process transforms raw materials (pulp or recycled paper) into the finished, packaged toilet rolls you see in stores.

The Converting Line (Making the Rolls)

This stage takes the jumbo rolls and converts them into the final consumer product.

1. Unwind Stands: One or more jumbo rolls are loaded and fed into the line. For 2-ply toilet paper, two webs are fed simultaneously.

2. Embossing: The paper passes through engraved steel rollers that press (emboss) a pattern onto it. This adds decoration, improves softness, and creates bulk.

3. Ply Bonding (for 2-ply): If making 2-ply, the two embossed webs are brought together. A precise amount of adhesive is applied at the embossed points to "spot-weld" them together without making the paper stiff.

4. Perforating: A small, sharp blade wheel presses against the paper to create the tear-off perforations between sheets.

5. Rewinding Machine: This is the core of the "rolls making" process. The paper is wound at high speed onto long cardboard tubes. The machine winds it to a precise diameter and then automatically cuts the paper, creating a continuous "log" of toilet paper.

6. Log Sawing Machine: The long, continuous logs are transferred to a machine with multiple circular saws that cut them into individual, consumer-sized rolls.

7. Packaging Line: The individual rolls are automatically wrapped in plastic or paper film, grouped into multi-packs, and placed into cardboard cartons for shipping.
