It is a sophisticated, automated industrial machine designed to produce long, continuous tubes with perforated patterns from a coiled metal strip. The process integrates two key functions:
It punches a precise pattern of holes (perforations) into the metal strip before or during the tube-forming process.
Decoiling & Straightening: A coiled metal strip (stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, etc.) is loaded and automatically fed into a straightening unit.
Perforation (In-line): The straightened strip passes through a high-precision servo-driven punching unit. This unit, using a custom-designed punch and die, stamps the desired hole pattern (round, square, slot, decorative, etc.) onto the strip.
Forming: The perforated strip is then progressively formed by a series of rolls. The edges are curled to create the helical lock-seam or prepared for welding.
Welding: The overlapping spiral seams are welded together using TIG (for high-quality, oxidation-free welds) or HF (High-Frequency) contact welding (for high speed). This creates a strong, continuous tube.
Sizing & Cutting: The tube passes through sizing rolls to achieve perfect roundness and diameter. Finally, an automated flying cut-off saw or cutter cuts the tube to pre-set lengths without stopping the production line.
Control & Collection: The entire process is monitored by a PLC and HMI (Human-Machine Interface). Finished tubes are collected on a rack or conveyor.
Uncoiler & Straightener: Holds and feeds the master coil.
Servo Punching Unit: The heart of perforation, with a heavy-duty press, punch, die, and servo for synchronization.
Forming Station: A series of hardened steel rolls arranged in a cage frame to gradually shape the strip.
Welding System: TIG or HF welding apparatus with wire feeder (if needed).
Sizing Station: Precision rolls to calibrate the tube diameter.
Flying Cut-Off Unit: Servo-driven saw or cutter.
PLC Control Cabinet & HMI: For automated operation and parameter setting.
Exit Conveyor / Racking System.
High Efficiency: Produces finished perforated tubes in a single, continuous automated process.
Design Flexibility: Hole pattern, tube diameter (from ~20mm to over 1000mm), material thickness (typically 0.5mm to 4.0mm), and pitch are easily adjustable.
Consistent Quality: Automation ensures uniform perforation and weld quality along the entire tube length.
Material Savings: Uses coiled strip, minimizing waste compared to perforating pre-made tubes.
Long Lengths: Can produce tubes significantly longer than typical mill lengths.
