It is an industrial machine that manufactures L-shaped or U-shaped paper protectors (also called corner boards, angleboard, or edge guards) from rolls of multi-ply kraft or recycled paper. These protectors are used to reinforce and protect the corners of boxes, crates, and palletized loads during shipping and storage.
The machine automates the following steps:
Unwinding: Multiple rolls of paper (typically 2-8 plies) are loaded onto a decoiler. An automatic splicer ensures continuous production by joining a new roll to the end of an expiring one without stopping.
Gluing & Laminating: The plies are fed through a glue application system (roller, spray, or extrusion) and pressed together to form a strong, multi-layered board.
Forming: This is the core step. The laminated paper board is guided through a series of forming rollers and dies that progressively bend it into a precise 90° L-shape or a U-shape.
Drying/Curing: The glued, formed protector passes through a drying section (often heated) to set the adhesive and ensure permanent shape.
Cutting: A flying or hydraulic cutter cuts the continuous formed profile into predetermined lengths (e.g., 1 to 3 meters).
Printing (Optional): A flexographic printing unit can be integrated to print logos, handling instructions, or branding onto the protectors before cutting.
Stacking & Bundling: The finished protectors are automatically counted, stacked, and often tied into bundles for easy handling and shipment.
