A spiral paper tube rolling machine is an industrial device that automatically produces paper tubes and cores by spirally winding multiple layers of paper (or other web-like materials) around a mandrel. The paper is fed at a precise angle, creating a strong, seamless, and consistent tube.
These tubes are ubiquitous and are used for:
Industrial Cores: For winding paper, film, foil, textiles, and adhesive tapes.
Packaging: For shipping posters, documents, and high-value goods (e.g., lithium batteries).
Consumer Goods: As the body for firecrackers, paper cans for food, and cores for toilet paper or paper towels.
The "spiral" in the name comes from the helical winding process. Here's a simplified breakdown:
Unwinding: Rolls of paper (the "slitting paper") are loaded onto the unwinding stands. A machine can have 2 to 8 or more stands to create multi-layered tubes for added strength.
Gluing: The paper webs pass through a glue application system, which evenly coats one side of each paper layer with a specific adhesive (like PVA or hot melt).
Spiral Winding & Forming: This is the core of the machine. The glued paper strips are fed into the forming head at a fixed angle (the "spiral angle"). They are then tightly wound around a central steel mandrel. The angle of feed is what creates the characteristic spiral seam.
Pressing & Curing: As the newly formed tube exits the forming head, it passes through a pressing belt or system. This ensures tight bonding between the layers and a smooth surface.
Cutting: The continuous tube is cut to the required length by a cutting unit. This can be a rotary cutter for high speeds or a saw-type cutter for heavier cores.
Ejection: The finished, cut tubes are ejected from the mandrel and collected.
Unwinding Stands: Hold the paper rolls.
Gluing System: Applies adhesive precisely and consistently.
Forming Head: The heart of the machine where the tube is wound around the mandrel.
Mandrel: A solid steel shaft that defines the inner diameter (ID) of the tube.
Pressing Unit: Uses belts or rollers to apply pressure for bonding.
Cutting Unit: Cuts the tube to length.
Control System: A PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) panel to control all parameters like speed, length, and glue amount.
