It is an industrial machine that manufactures paper tubes and cores by winding multiple layers of paper (kraft, recycled, specialty papers) in a spiral pattern around a rotating mandrel, using adhesive to bond the layers. This continuous spiral winding method creates strong, durable, dimensionally stable cylindrical paper cores and tubes.
Driven by the global shift toward sustainable packaging and plastic reduction, spiral paper tubes are widely adopted as eco-friendly alternatives to plastic cores and plastic packaging. This growing demand makes spiral paper tube production lines a high-potential investment for packaging converters, new small factories and wholesale suppliers across the world.
High Compressive & Torsional StrengthThe cross-grain spiral overlapping structure distributes stress evenly. Unlike straight-seam parallel-wound paper tubes, spiral cores resist splitting under heavy winding tension and stacking pressure, ideal for high-tension film, foil and textile winding jobs.
Wide Dimension FlexibilityCustom tube inner diameter ranges from several millimeters up to 500 mm. Tube length can be cut freely on demand. Wall thickness is adjustable by adding or reducing paper plies, from thin lightweight label cores to heavy-duty thick-wall concrete forming tubes.
Wide Material CompatibilitySupports virgin kraft paper, recycled kraft paper, waterproof coated paper, foil composite paper, oil-proof paper and flame-retardant specialty paper. It meets diverse requirements for moisture barrier, food contact, insulation and fire resistance.
Uniform Seamless Wall StructureSpiral overlapping design delivers consistent wall thickness and roundness. No weak straight seam, so the tube surface stays smooth. It prevents film jumping, wrinkling and uneven tension during customer rewinding.
Cost-Effective & Eco-FriendlyRaw paper rolls are affordable, and recycled paper can cut production costs significantly. Final paper tubes are fully recyclable, biodegradable and plastic-free, helping exporters satisfy green packaging regulations in EU, USA and other markets.

The whole line runs as a continuous automated workflow:
Multiple paper rolls are installed on the creel stand. The number of paper plies decides the final wall thickness. Premium creels come with tension controllers and paper break alarms to stabilize paper web and avoid wrinkled or loose tubes.
Each paper strip passes through a glue coating unit. Operators adjust glue volume via HMI to avoid glue overflow or insufficient bonding. Water-based PVA glue is common for standard cores; hot melt adhesive is chosen for high-speed production and fast curing.
Glued paper strips are fed onto a replaceable mandrel at a fixed winding angle (usually 15–30°). The paper wraps spirally around the rotating mandrel and layers bond tightly together. Changing mandrels quickly switches tube inner diameters.
The newly formed tube moves forward along the mandrel. IR heaters or hot air drying tunnels cure the adhesive to lock the tube shape and prevent deformation or soft walls.
A traveling rotary servo cutter cuts the endless tube into preset lengths. Flying cut works without stopping the main winding line, boosting output and lowering material waste.
Finished tubes are ejected to the conveyor. Fully automatic lines add auto counting, sorting and bundling modules to cut manual labor.

A: Virgin kraft paper, recycled kraft paper, waterproof coated paper, foil laminated paper and flame-retardant composite paper. Paper gsm can be selected according to your target tube strength.
A: Water-based PVA white glue is widely used for general packaging cores with low cost. Hot melt adhesive supports fast curing and fits high-speed continuous production.
A: Yes, by replacing the mandrel. Semi-automatic models are better for frequent diameter switching; full-auto lines perform better for long-run fixed diameter orders.
A: Semi-automatic line: 1–2 operators. Fully automatic line with auto splicing and stacking can run with only one operator for monitoring.
A: Operation manuals, remote debugging guidance, installation instructions, long-term spare parts supply, and on-site training available upon request.
A: Standard models take around 20–35 working days. Customized special machines need longer lead time based on your requirements.
