It's a compact, semi-automatic or fully automatic production line designed for small to medium-scale businesses. Unlike massive industrial machines that run 24/7, these are slower, more affordable, and require less space and manpower. They are perfect for entrepreneurs, family-run workshops, and small factories.
There are two main configurations:
This is the most common choice for startups. The process is split, and some steps require manual labor.
Process: The rewinding and embossing are automated, but the cutting and packaging are done manually.
Components:
Rewinding Machine: The core unit that takes the large parent jumbo roll and converts it into long, perforated, and embossed logs.
Log Saw / Cutter: A separate machine where the operator manually places the long log and cuts it into individual rolls.
Pros:
Lower initial investment.
Flexibility to produce different roll sizes easily.
Easier to maintain and repair.
Cons:
Higher labor cost (requires 2-4 operators).
Slower production speed (e.g., 40-80 rolls per minute).
Less consistent finishing in the manual stages.
This is an integrated system where the entire process is automated from the jumbo roll to the finished, wrapped product.
Process: Jumbo roll → Rewinding & Perforating → Log Cutting → Core Inserting (if producing coreless rolls is also an option) → Wrapping & Sealing.
Components: All the modules (rewinder, cutter, wrapper) are connected by conveyors.
Pros:
Higher production speed (e.g., 90-150 rolls per minute).
Lower labor cost (only 1-2 operators for monitoring).
Consistent, high-quality output.
Cons:
Higher purchase price.
Less flexibility to change roll sizes quickly.
More complex maintenance.
Regardless of type, a typical small machine includes:
Unwind Stand: Holds the large jumbo roll of tissue paper (the raw material).
Rewinding Machine: The heart of the system. It:
Embosses: Creates patterns on the paper for better softness and aesthetics.
Perforates: Makes the tear-off lines.
Winds the Paper: Layers the paper sheets onto a cardboard core (or winds it coreless) to form a long, continuous "log."
Log Saw (Cutter): Automatically or semi-automatically cuts the long log into individual toilet roll sizes.
Toilet Paper Wrapping Machine (for automatic lines): Automatically wraps the finished rolls in plastic or paper film and seals the ends.
Loading Raw Material: A jumbo tissue roll (can be virgin pulp or recycled paper) is mounted on the unwind stand.
Web Guiding: The paper is fed into the rewinder, ensuring it runs straight and aligned.
Embossing & Perforating: The paper passes through an embossing roller (which adds the pattern) and a perforating blade (which creates the tear lines). Two plies are often glued together at this stage.
Rewinding: The paper is tightly wound around a cardboard core. The machine counts the number of sheets to ensure each roll has the same length.
Log Cutting: The long, continuous log is ejected and automatically or manually cut into individual rolls.
Wrapping & Packaging (Automatic Line): The individual rolls are fed into a wrapping machine, which packages them in plastic film, and thepacked into cartons manually.
