It is a sophisticated, automated industrial machine designed to produce long, continuous tubes with perforated patterns from a coiled metal strip. The process integrates two key functions:
It forms a flat strip into a continuous spiral (helical) tube and welds the overlapping edges.
It punches a precise pattern of holes (perforations) into the metal strip before or during the tube-forming process.
A coiled metal strip (stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, etc.) is loaded and automatically fed into a straightening unit.
The straightened strip passes through a high-precision servo-driven punching unit. This unit, using a custom-designed punch and die, stamps the desired hole pattern (round, square, slot, decorative, etc.) onto the strip.
The perforated strip is then progressively formed by a series of rolls. The edges are curled to create the helical lock-seam or prepared for welding.
The overlapping spiral seams are welded together using TIG (for high-quality, oxidation-free welds) or HF (High-Frequency) contact welding (for high speed). This creates a strong, continuous tube.
The tube passes through sizing rolls to achieve perfect roundness and diameter. Finally, an automated flying cut-off saw or cutter cuts the tube to pre-set lengths without stopping the production line.
The entire process is monitored by a PLC and HMI (Human-Machine Interface). Finished tubes are collected on a rack or conveyor.
Uncoiler & Straightener: Holds and feeds the master coil.
Servo Punching Unit: The heart of perforation, with a heavy-duty press, punch, die, and servo for synchronization.
Forming Station: A series of hardened steel rolls arranged in a cage frame to gradually shape the strip.
Welding System: TIG or HF welding apparatus with wire feeder (if needed).
Sizing Station: Precision rolls to calibrate the tube diameter.
Flying Cut-Off Unit: Servo-driven saw or cutter.
PLC Control Cabinet & HMI: For automated operation and parameter setting.
Exit Conveyor / Racking System.
Produces finished perforated tubes in a single, continuous automated process.
Hole pattern, tube diameter (from ~20mm to over 1000mm), material thickness (typically 0.5mm to 4.0mm), and pitch are easily adjustable.
Automation ensures uniform perforation and weld quality along the entire tube length.
Uses coiled strip, minimizing waste compared to perforating pre-made tubes.
Can produce tubes significantly longer than typical mill lengths.
A1: This automatic equipment manufactures spiral-wound paper cores and paper tubes for multiple industries. Output includes packaging paper cores, tape core tubes, textile winding tubes, film and foil cores, as well as kraft cardboard industrial paper tubes. It supports production for both thinwall light-duty tubes and heavy-duty high-strength paper cores according to production settings.
A2: It works with kraft paper, corrugated laminated paper, composite paper strips and recycled paper. Operators can use different paper grammages to adjust final tube strength. Multiple-layer paper feeding design allows stacking different paper stocks to reinforce tube wall for heavy-load application scenarios.
A3: Driven by servo motor and precise cutting unit, inner diameter, wall thickness and cutting length are controllable. Length tolerance stays within ±0.5 mm. The finished tubes keep good roundness without deformation. All dimension parameters can be quickly modified on the PLC touch-screen for fast order switching.
A4: Fullyautomatic models greatly cut manual work. Only 1-2 operators per shift are needed for material feeding and finishedtube collection. Standard unit requires around 80120 m² workshop area. Customers can select singlehead or multi-head configurations based on target daily output volume.
A5: Every automatic paper tube making machine includes factory warranty, English operation manuals and maintenance video tutorials. Lifelong remote technical support and online troubleshooting are provided. Onsite installation and staff training are available as optional services.
