Unwinding

Jumbo Roll Stand

A large paper roll (often 1-2 tons) is loaded onto an unwind stand. It feeds the paper web into the machine. Tension control is critical.

Slitting

Slitter Unit

The wide paper web passes through a set of circular rotary knives. These slit the paper into multiple widths equal to the long side of an A4 sheet (297mm).

Sheeting

Cross Cutter

The slit webs move forward to a high-speed cross-cutter, which chops them at precise intervals to create the short side of an A4 sheet (210mm). This creates a stream of identical A4 sheets.

Overlapping & Conveying

Belt Conveyor

The cut sheets are gently overlapped ("shingled") on a conveyor belt to ensure a smooth, controlled flow into the stacking area without jamming.

Counting & Stacking

Counting & Stacking Unit

Optical sensors or mechanical counters accurately count 500 sheets (or a preset count). The sheets are then neatly stacked into a pile, ready for wrapping.

Compressing

Compression Unit

The stack is pressed under high pressure to squeeze out air, creating a tight, solid, and neat ream that is easy to handle and package.

Wrapping

Ream Wrapping Machine

The compressed ream is automatically wrapped in a protective material (kraft paper or polypropylene plastic). The ends are folded and sealed with hot melt glue.

Cartoning (Optional)

Automatic Cartoner

The wrapped reams are collated (e.g., 5 reams per box) and automatically inserted into a pre-formed cardboard carton, which is then sealed.
