It is a precision industrial machine designed to convert large, master (or "jumbo") rolls of material into narrower, smaller-diameter rolls required for consumer or industrial use.
Basic Function: To unwind a wide roll of material, slit it into multiple strips of specific widths, and rewind these strips onto individual cores, all while maintaining high quality, tension, and alignment.
Purpose: Holds the large master roll.
Features: Often includes a pneumatic brake or a drive motor to maintain back tension, which is crucial for preventing wrinkles and ensuring a tight, uniform web. Larger machines may have an automatic splice table to change rolls without stopping.
Purpose: Automatically corrects the lateral (side-to-side) position of the material as it enters the machine.
Why it's critical: It ensures the material is perfectly aligned before slitting, which is essential for producing rolls with straight edges and consistent width.
Purpose: To cut the wide web into multiple narrow strips.
There are two primary slitting methods used for tapes:
A) Razor Slitting (Shear Cutting):
B) Crush (Score) Cutting:
How it works: A male circular blade with a sharp edge is pressed directly into a female roll covered with a rubber or plastic sleeve. The blade "crushes" or scores through the material.
Best for: Thicker, more compressible, or fibrous materials like duct tape, masking tape, cloth tape, and foam tapes.
Purpose: This is where the individual slit strips are wound onto cores to form the finished rolls.
Types of Winders:
Center-Surface Winder (Most Common for Tapes): The rolls are driven by both their central shaft and contact with a large drum. This provides superior tension control and is ideal for sticky, pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes because it prevents air entrapment and "telescoping."
Center Winder: The rolls are driven only by their central shaft. Better for non-sticky materials.
3.1 Loading:
The master roll is loaded onto the unwind stand.
The leading edge of the material is threaded through the web guide, over the idler rollers, and through the slitting unit.
The operator loads cores onto the rewind shaft and sets the slitting blades to the desired widths on the slitter arbor.
The machine is started. The web is guided, slit into multiple strips, and each strip is individually wound onto a core on the rewind shaft.
When the rolls reach the preset diameter or length, the machine stops automatically. The finished rolls are then ejected, often with an automatic knife to cut the trailing edge.
This machinery is used for a vast range of products:
Packaging Tapes (BOPP, PVC)
Office Tapes (Scotch Magic Tape, etc.)
Double-Sided Tapes
Duct Tapes
Masking Tapes
Medical Tapes
Specialty Tapes (Kapton, Teflon, Foam)
A1: Our adhesive tape slitting rewinding machine supports processing of various common adhesive tape materials, including BOPP packing tape, masking tape, double-sided tape, foam tape, PET tape and kraft paper tape. It adapts to single-layer and multi-layer adhesive materials with different thicknesses, meeting the slitting and rewinding demands of daily industrial and commercial tape production.
A2: This tape slitting rewinding equipment features high-precision servo control system. The slitting width tolerance can be controlled within ±0.1mm, suitable for both wide-width jumbo roll splitting and narrow fine slitting. It ensures neat cutting edges without burrs, no adhesive overflow, and uniform rewinding tightness, effectively improving finished tape quality and yield.
A3: The machine is equipped with an intelligent PLC touch screen control system with visualized operation interface. All parameters including slitting width, rewinding speed and tension can be adjusted with one click. It supports one-key start and stop and automatic constant tension operation. We provide English operation manuals and professional operation tutorials, and novice workers can master the operation in a short time without professional technical background.
A4: Yes. The equipment supports fully customizable production specifications. Users can freely set arbitrary slitting widths within the machine’s processing range, and adjust the rewinding diameter, roll length and tightness according to finished product standards. It can switch between mass production of standard tapes and customized special-size tapes flexibly, suitable for diversified order production.
A5: We provide full-process after-sales services including long-term factory warranty, free technical consultation, remote online fault diagnosis and lifelong maintenance guidance. Standard spare parts are supplied sufficiently. For overseas customers, we can provide video installation guidance and remote debugging services, and support on-site commissioning and technical training as required, ensuring stable and long-term operation of the equipment.
