A parallel paper tube making machine is an industrial system that automatically produces straight, cylindrical tubes and cores from rolls of paper or paperboard. The term "parallel" refers to two key features:
The tube has a consistent diameter from one end to the other (unlike a conical tube).
The paper is wound with its fibers predominantly parallel to the tube's length, resulting in a seam that runs straight along the tube, not in a spiral.
Cores: For winding materials like plastic film, foil, textiles, labels, and paper.
Packaging: For protecting products like posters, carpets, and documents.
Functional Products: Such as concrete column forms (sonotubes), containers, and mailing tubes.
The machine operates as a continuous production line. Here's the journey of the paper:
Unwinding: Large rolls of paper (parent rolls) are loaded onto the unwind stand. Advanced machines have a splicing table to join a new roll to the end of an expiring one without stopping production.
Web Guiding & Conditioning: The paper web is fed through tension control and guiding systems to ensure it runs perfectly straight and aligned. It may pass through pre-heating rollers to dry the paper or activate adhesive.
Gluing: A precise gluing unit applies a controlled bead of adhesive along the edge of the paper. Hot melt adhesive is common for its instant bond, while PVA (white glue) is used for high-strength requirements.
Forming (The Heart of the Machine): The paper is wrapped around a stationary, polished steel mandrel whose diameter defines the tube's inner diameter. A continuous forming belt presses against the paper on the mandrel, creating the friction that pulls the paper through while tightly winding the plies to form a solid, multi-layered tube wall.
Cutting: Once the tube is formed and the adhesive has set enough, a cutting unit slices the continuous tube to the required length.
Rotary Cutter: A high-speed blade that cuts without stopping the tube's forward motion.
Saw Cutter: A reciprocating or circular saw used for thicker-walled or large-diameter tubes.
Discharge & Drying: The cut tubes are conveyed away on a belt. This conveyor provides sufficient time for the adhesive to fully cure before the tubes are collected, stacked, or packaged.
A1: This automatic equipment manufactures spiral-wound paper cores and paper tubes for multiple industries. Output includes packaging paper cores, tape core tubes, textile winding tubes, film and foil cores, as well as kraft cardboard industrial paper tubes. It supports production for both thin-wall light-duty tubes and heavy-duty highstrength paper cores according to production settings.
A2: It works with kraft paper, corrugated laminated paper, composite paper strips and recycled paper. Operators can use different paper grammages to adjust final tube strength. Multiple-layer paper feeding design allows stacking different paper stocks to reinforce tube wall for heavy-load application scenarios.
A3: Driven by servo motor and precise cutting unit, inner diameter, wall thickness and cutting length are controllable. Length tolerance stays within ±0.5 mm. The finished tubes keep good roundness without deformation. All dimension parameters can be quickly modified on the PLC touch-screen for fast order switching.
A4: Fully-automatic models greatly cut manual work. Only 1-2 operators per shift are needed for material feeding and finished tube collection. Standard unit requires around 80-120 m² workshop area. Customers can select single head or multi-head configurations based on target daily output volume.
A5: Every automatic paper tube making machine includes factory warranty, English operation manuals and maintenance video tutorials. Lifelong remote technical support and online troubleshooting are provided. On-site installation and staff training are available as optional services.
