Whether using spiral or parallel winding, the process for a straight-wall tube is highly automated:
Unwinding: Multiple rolls of paper (e.g., kraft, laminated, specialty) are mounted on an unwinding stand. The number of layers defines the tube's wall thickness.
Gluing: Each paper layer passes through a precision gluing system that applies a uniform coat of adhesive.
Winding: The glued paper is fed onto a rotating mandrel (a steel rod that defines the tube's inner diameter).
In a Spiral Machine, the paper is wound at an angle.
In a Parallel Winding Machine, the paper is wound straight.
Heating & Drying: The tube passes through a heating tunnel to cure the adhesive quickly, ensuring immediate strength.
Cutting: A high-speed, synchronized cutter (e.g., rotary saw) cuts the continuous tube to the pre-set length without stopping production.
Ejection: Finished tubes are automatically ejected and stacked for packaging.
High Speed & Output: Can produce hundreds to thousands of tubes per hour.
Consistent Quality: Every tube has identical dimensions (diameter, length, wall thickness) and strength.
Labor Efficiency: Requires minimal operator intervention (mainly loading paper and removing finished tubes).
Material Efficiency: Precise control minimizes waste of paper and glue.
Flexibility: Quick changeover for different tube diameters and lengths.
